about us

Born in Kalpitiya. Raised by the lagoon.

We are Sifhan and Saheerkhan, two brothers from Setthawadi, a local community on the shores of Kalpitiya Lagoon.

This lagoon is not somewhere we discovered on holiday. It is where we grew up.

We know its shores, villages, windy days, quiet corners and small places most visitors will never find on Google Maps.

Kite Wing Brothers was born from a simple idea: to share our home with the people who come to discover Kalpitiya.

Welcome to our little paradise.

Two Brothers. One Lagoon.

We grew up beside Kalpitiya Lagoon. Long before international riders arrived with board bags and kites, this was simply home.

The lagoon, ocean, fishing boats, local villages, seasons, wind and water were part of everyday life.

Today people travel thousands of kilometres to experience the same place. And we still call it home.

Saheerkhan, Kite Wing Brothers, Kalpitiya

Meet Saheerkhan

If there is wind, you will probably find him near the water.

Saheerkhan kitesurfs and wingfoils and spends much of his time around Kalpitiya Lagoon. He is also part of the beach team at Margarita Kite School.

His knowledge of Kalpitiya did not begin with kitesurfing. It began by growing up here. He knows the lagoon, deeper and shallow areas, shores, local kite spots and places visitors may never think of exploring.

If you are wondering where to kite or wingfoil that day, ask him.

Sifhan, Kite Wing Brothers, Kalpitiya

Meet Sifhan

The man making sure you feel at home.

While Saheerkhan is thinking about the wind, Sifhan will be making sure you have everything you need at Kite Wing Brothers. Together with his family, he takes care of our small resort and three tropical bungalows.

Need something? Ask Sifhan. Need transport? Ask Sifhan. Want to know where to eat or organize something around Kalpitiya? He will help.

When the Wind Stops, Life Continues

Outside the main kite season, Sifhan returns to fishing and spearfishing, another activity connected to life beside the Indian Ocean.

For local families, the ocean has always been much more than somewhere to practise watersports. It is part of everyday life.

Our Kalpitiya

You can search online for the best kite spot, restaurant, things to do or dolphin watching. Or you can ask us.

We were born here. We grew up here. We still live here.

We want to show you our Kalpitiya.

The lagoon. The ocean. The kite spots. The fishing villages. The food. The people. And the places that do not have a name on Google Maps.

Why We Created Kite Wing Brothers

We did not want to build another big kite resort. We wanted something small. Something personal. Something that still feels like Kalpitiya.

So we created a place with just three tropical bungalows surrounded by coconut trees and a short distance from the lagoon where we grew up.

More Than a Place to Sleep

Anyone can give you a room key. We want to give you local knowledge when you want to explore, help when you need it and space when you do not.

Maybe you are coming for kitesurfing. Maybe wingfoil. Maybe dolphin watching. Maybe remote work. Or maybe you simply found our little place while travelling around Sri Lanka. You are welcome here.

Come as a Guest. Discover Kalpitiya as a Local.

We cannot promise wind every day. We cannot promise dolphins every morning. And we do not want to pretend Kalpitiya is something it is not.

What we can do is welcome you to the place where we grew up.

We are Sifhan and Saheerkhan. We are from Setthawadi. We grew up beside Kalpitiya Lagoon. And we would love to welcome you to our little paradise.

Ride Kalpitiya with the locals.
